Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Medication-Assisted Treatment, or MAT, uses FDA-approved medications alongside counseling and support to ease withdrawal, reduce cravings, and give the brain time to heal. Used well, it is a bridge to recovery, not a substitute for it.
What is MAT?
MAT combines medication with therapy and the 12-Step community to treat opioid and alcohol addiction. The medications can reduce cravings and withdrawal so a man can focus on the real work of recovery instead of just surviving the day.
MAT is meant to be part of a whole-person program, not a stand-alone fix. Medication steadies the body; therapy, faith, and community change the life.
How MAT helps in recovery
- Easing the intensity of withdrawal during detox and early recovery
- Reducing cravings that often drive relapse
- Helping stabilize the brain so counseling can take hold
- Lowering the risk of overdose during a vulnerable time
MAT at Renaissance Ranch
At Renaissance Ranch, medical and clinical staff use MAT when it is the right fit for a man's recovery, always alongside therapy and our faith-centered, 12-Step approach. Our goal is never medication for its own sake, but whatever safely helps each man reach lasting freedom.
