Equine Therapy
Some of the most important work in recovery does not happen in a chair. Equine therapy puts men alongside horses, animals that respond honestly to a person's emotions, to build trust, self-awareness, and healing that words alone cannot reach.
What is equine therapy?
Equine therapy is a form of experiential therapy that involves guided interaction with horses: grooming, leading, and caring for them, under the guidance of a facilitator. It is not about riding; it is about relationship.
Horses are highly sensitive to emotion and body language. They react to what a person is truly feeling, not what he says he feels, which makes them powerful mirrors for men who have spent years hiding behind a mask.
How equine therapy helps
- Builds trust and healthy connection, often hard-won for men in addiction
- Reveals emotions and patterns a man may not have words for yet
- Teaches patience, boundaries, and calm, present-moment focus
- Rebuilds confidence and a sense of responsibility for another living thing
